On the other grinder I have a 60 grit white alum oxide, J hardness, Norton wheel (was $40 from MSC) that I use stricly for grinding HSS. It works well. On the other side I have a brown norton wheel that came with the grinder, the wheel is probably 20 yrs old, it is med grit. I think it is a surface grinding wheel actually.
